Requiem Mass and Funeral of George Plowman (36-38)
On Tuesday 3rd November, a wonderful Requiem Mass was offered for George Plowman who died on Friday 23rd October 2009. Fr Tony Baxter, a cousin and contemporary of George whilst at Ratcliffe and Fr Simon Giles concelebrated with the local parish priest. Old Ratcliffians Paul Rudd, Brian Coe and John Hearson were present. Other family members and Old Ratcliffians who attended were Charles Foulds, whose mother, Mary, is George’s sister-in-law as is Monica Marriott, Patrick Marriot’s widow, who also attended with her son John, also an Old Ratcliffian. The church was packed with hundreds of mourners. George was a well known and respected member of the community in Spalding.
George’s obituary will appear in the forthcoming edition of the Old Ratcliffian.
